SEPTEMBER IS A BUSY MONTH FOR THE LORD

The Picture of the rainbow was taken by Saundra at the Glorieta Conference Center.

Let me bring you up to date on where we have been and what we have been doing since our last report on September 1, 2007.

On Sunday the 2nd we were with Pastor Dan Barnes and the folks at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky. We had a great time with the folks at Lighthouse Baptist. They have supported this ministry for many years now.

After the services at Lighthouse Baptist Church we drove to Gaylord, Michigan to visit with Alesha and Brother John Seay and their children, our grandchildren Sarah, Cynthia, John Mark and Karissa. Brother John, our son-in-law, is the Dean of Students at Grace Baptist Bible College. Alesha is in the Accounting Department at the college. They accepted these positions on the 1st of September. We now have both our daughters in Michigan (how did that happen). There must be a great need in Michigan for Saundra and I to have to send nine missionaries to Michigan. We have two son-in-laws, two daughters and five grandchildren in Michigan. We feel this is a great sacrifice for the ministry.

After we left Gaylord, Michigan we drove to Burton, Michigan to be with Brother Mark Forester (our son-in-law, Andrea (our daughter) and Tyler (our grandson). They invited us to their Annual Homecoming. They are in full-time Evangelism and Gospel Music. After their Homecoming we all came back together to Kentucky. We attended the National Quartet Convention and worked in the office all week. I had radio programs to get out and nine up and coming God and Country meeting to prepare for after we get back from the National Home School Conferences in New Mexico.

On Monday September 17th I had eye surgery to remove some blood vessels behind my left eye. This was for complication of my diabetes due to the Agent Orange I was in Viet Nam. On Tuesday the 18th we flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico to begin the back to back conference for state home school leaders and the national conference for home education sponsored by Home School Legal Defense Association. The first conference was in Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta, New Mexico. The second conference is in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We will be back home in Bardstown on Sunday, September 30th for special services at our home church – Nelson County Baptist Church.

September Newsletter

September 1, 2007

Dear Prayer Warrior:
August has been a month of ministry and medicine. Let me tell you about some of the ministry and I really need your prayers about the medicine.
I have done several radio interviews this month because of all the travel Saundra and I will be doing in September. We have two national homeschool conferences in New Mexico and that means I have to have all my radio programs for the next six weeks done ahead of time. I have met with several pastors about church school ministries and helped give counsel on the "ins" and "outs" of the church school ministry. We were in the Special Legislative Session in the month of August. The amendment to protect marriage was not put on the call for this Special Session. U of L and UK are promoting immoral behavior by providing coverage to any one none relative living with you and their dependents in their health care. Pray for this situation that this will be removed. I spoke to a youth group in Nicolasville, Ky. These Christian young people want to know how to serve God in their government. I was scheduled to speak at the 26th anniversary of Nelson County Baptist Church, our home church. We were able to spend a few days of vacation with our son and daughter-in-law and two of our seven grandchildren. All-in-all we had a good month of ministry and family time.
Now let me give you some major updates on my health and needed prayer. When I last wrote I had surgery on my right eye for bleeding caused by retinopathy. Since that time I have had my left eye operated on and will have another surgery on my left eye on September 17th. I had let you know that I had gone for my annual colonoscopy. The results came back and they found another pre-cancerous growth in my colon. We are meeting with the surgeon and trying to see what we should do about the removal of this growth. We do not want to wait until it has advanced too far and we want to be guided to have it at the right time in the ministry. We have meetings scheduled months in advance and we want to give proper notice for these pastors. We are trusting God to work all of this out. Please pray!
The reason for all of these medical situations is while I was in Viet Nam I was exposed to agent orange (Dioxin). The resection of the carcinoma of the colon eight years ago, type two diabetes (now insulin dependent), retinopathy, neuropathy of the hands and feet plus in my left ankle and foot bones and hypertension are all caused by side affects of agent orange. We applied two weeks ago to the Veterans Administration for medical compensation for these conditions. Everyone feels that I will get compensation and this will cover all the medical expenses, (although it may take up to 18 months) but will save Saundra and I $1,649.00/month on health expenses we are now paying for hospitalization. Now I am paying my deductible of $3,000.00 plus medicines for the surgeries and procedures I have had so far this year. Pray for these expenses.
The good news is that we have only missed one meeting this year so far and God has given us souls and results in the service for God’s people. We truly covet your prayers.
Yours in Christ
